That realization shaped everything that was to follow. A Master's in Translation Studies. Years working in Seattle, Munich and Estonia, moving between languages and systems and contexts. A decade at the intersection of human development and product strategy, currently as a Chief Product Officer in EdTech for a company in beautiful Chiang Mai, Thailand.
The thread running through all of it is the same: I translate. I take complex systems and turn them into something clear and usable. That's not a metaphor, it's literally what I have done my entire career.
And then, on a flight from Munich to Bangkok, I sat next to a woman who would become one of my closest friends, and my astrology teacher.
Working so long in the Saas world where everything needs to be measured (I had nightmares about John Doerr at one point), I was the biggest sceptic about Astrology. Those watered-down horoscope snippets in magazines - they were so vague they could apply to absolutely anyone in any situation and had put me off astrology for years. But when I put down my prejudices and actually spent time studying it, I realized there is something there that I should not dismiss. This 5,000-year-old symbolic system has been refined through careful observation across cultures and millennia. It's so accurate and goes deeper than any personality test or coaching course I have ever taken.
Our Moon's gravitational pull moves entire oceans. If this planetary body can shift billions of tonnes of water, it is not a stretch to consider that the arrangement of planets at the exact moment of our birth has some influence on who we are. It is pattern recognition applied to one of the oldest observational data systems in human history. How cool is that?!
What I do with that data is translate it for my clients into a clear, structured map of how they're wired. What planets are in their soul center? What does their bodychart from Human Design tell about them? Every time, they have aha moments of "ah, this is who I am designed to be... you are right! I just forgot." or "Now I understand why my partner and I trigger each other in this way when he thinks putting the dishes on top of the dishwasher is cleaning up!" :-)
I grew up between a few worlds. Born in Austria, raised in Frankfurt from the age of four, then moved to Washington State with my mom and brother when I was 14. By the time I finished high school on beautiful Whidbey Island, I had already learned that borders - geographic, cultural, linguistic - are largely something people make up. (Or use as an excuse.) By the time I left for college at 17, I learned that the world is so much bigger than the edges we draw around it.
We moved here two years ago because we wanted adventure, a change from the Bavarian school system. I wanted to show my kids another life than "wealthy Munich". Later, I learned that my sun is in the ninth house in Aquarius: the house of travel, higher learning, expansion, and the sign of freedom and innovation. Quick aha moment for me - no wonder I have loved travelling and learning all my life. :-) I thrive when I am exploring. I shine when I am learning something new. The data confirmed what I already felt and somehow that just feels good.
My marriage of fourteen years ended, IMO not as a failure, but as something that completed. My former husband and I made a deliberate, mutual decision to continue growing, just no longer as a couple.
I was raised to believe that the heart and gut matter as much (in some instances, even more) as the mind. Our gut feeling is data too. My parents gave me something that is expressed in German better than in English: Urvertrauen. A deep, foundational trust that the world is safe enough to explore fully.
I would love to help to restore that trust in my clients. So they can understand themselves better, understand their purpose, and confidently walk the path that is right for them.
I live in Thailand now, with my two daughters, both of them extraordinary teachers to me.
But still there's that quiet sense that something hasn't clicked into place.
Not because they haven't tried hard enough. Because they've been working without a map.
When someone finally sees their own blueprint (BodyChart, Birth Chart, or Soul Blueprint) the reaction is almost always the same.
Relief. And "Oh yeah, I get it now."
That is what I'm here for.
